About LETSS
Lived Experience Telephone Support Service (LETSS)
A caring voice over the phone for support with mental health conditions between 5pm-11:30pm, 365 days a year.
People with mental health issues – as well as their carers, family and friends – can access a unique after-hours telephone help line. This unique service will broaden mental health support in two key ways:
- The trained support staff answering the calls will have a personal lived experience of recovery and managing challenges to their mental health. They will draw on this experience of recovery in their support and understanding of the caller’s unique experience.
- The service will be specifically after hours, operating from 5pm to 11.30pm, 365 days a year.
The LETSS support workers will provide non-clinical mental health support which helps people in times of distress, offers an alternative to attending emergency departments, and assists with access to appropriate in-hours services provided by state, Commonwealth or non-governmental organisations.

*This service is funded by Adelaide Primary Health Network, an Australian Government initiative.
Organising a wellbeing call
A follow up/wellbeing call can be arranged in various circumstances. For instance, after a hospital stay someone may request to receive a call from a LETSS peer worker to check in and see how they are doing, as well as provide information and assist with any queries they may have. Individuals who access the service may also request a follow up call from a peer worker after an initial conversation. To arrange a wellbeing call, you can either:
Leave a voice/text message on 0408 293 767
Or
Send an email to letss@skylight.org.au
All we require is your client’s first name, phone number and confirmation of consent (verbal). We will call the client between the hours of 5pm and 11.30pm that evening.
** Please let us know if your client does not want us to leave a voice message should they not answer.
Privacy statement
All conversations with our Peer Workers are recorded for safety and quality assurance purposes. De-identified data may be used for research, analysis and reporting purposes. If you do not wish your conversation to be recorded please notify the Peer Worker. We value your privacy and all conversations are confidential. If Peer Workers determine you are at risk of harming yourself or others, duty of care will override confidentiality as outlined in the Privacy Act 1988 and Information Sharing Guidelines.
